Ever since we started the journey of building Factorial Biomechanics, we have deliberately chosen to share the process with the public. For us, adopting the approach to build in public has been focused on reaching a community, constant learning, and authenticity .
We believe in the power of community. By openly sharing the process of building our company, we aim to connect with like-minded individuals, foster collaboration, and build trust.
Yet how do we even find the professional community?
And when we do find them, would they even engage with us? Would they be interested in our process?
Finding our voice and our home within social media is still a work in progress. The mere exercise of finding the audience, starting conversations and experimenting has humbled us, and helped refine our brand. In this process we strive to build a genuine brand by sharing our authentic selves and fostering meaningful relationships with our audience.
Here’s what we keep in the forefront as we navigate the public stage:
Iterative process : We embrace adaptation, pivoting, and learning from our mistakes.
Clear vision : We maintain a clear vision for our product and the problem we aim to solve.
Value-driven content : We prioritize providing valuable content to our audience, such as tutorials, best practices, and case studies.
Community engagement : We actively participate in online communities, respond to comments, and foster discussions.
Transparency : We value genuine insights and open sharing of challenges.
But it’s not at all about running together hand-in-hand and buzz words. Building in public requires maintaining perspective regardless of noise, and handling emotions and criticism from people who care but might not be aligned with us. An opposite style such as “building in stealth”, which would conjure images of secretive spy-like operations with fake names, would represent less public pressure.
Ultimately, "building in public" not only requires disciplined outward communication, it also requires active listening.
As we continue to listen to the human movement communities, building in public is opening up significant strategic value:
Fostering trust and appeal : Transparency has been crucial for early adopters as well as investor interest. Up until this point and looking forward, we believe openly sharing our journey – both successes and setbacks – also lets us demonstrate our commitment and inspire trust.
Deepening B2B understanding : Sharing our development process has also allowed us to engage with potential customers in bigger organizations, gather valuable feedback about their desires and needs, and identify quick refinements to our offerings that better meet needs for the enterprise customer.
Unlocking unexpected opportunities : Building in public has attracted unexpected collaborators, partners, and future investors who might otherwise have missed us.
Whether you’re a human movement professional, a startup founder or just curious, the Factorial Biochamics team invites you to join us on this journey — book a demo with our team , and follow us on social media for the latest updates.
